‘Lots and lots of files’

Every so often, there comes a pop culture phenomenon so complete and memorable, it leaves a giant hulking trail in its wake. The X-Files is one such wonder. Yes, by now you’re quite familiar with the story of two intrepid G-Men (well, one G-Man and one G-Woman) hunting EBEs, monsters, ghosts, flukemen, serial killers, predators, and other outre bugaboo, but the program itself is only a part of the story.

Beginning on September 10, 1993, the show ushered in a whole universe of cult adulation, fan fiction, conventions, two feature films, ‘shipping, and capturing the zeitgeist of the 1990s, writ large. It is a testament to the power of the show that this weekend, as part of the festivities at the San Diego Comic-Con, there will be a panel celebrating the 20th anniversary of the program.

And that is where you come to the people bringing you this blog, two such individuals who grew up with and fell in love with this strange cultural sensation. Radhika conceived of the idea of a blog that would recap a rewatch of all 202 episodes and 2 movies, and Max liked the idea too much to not want to be a part of it.

We will be giving you our thoughts on each episode of the series, as well as posts surrounding the larger phenomenon that grew out of it. Fan fiction, alien autopsy videos, other shows/movies, everything is fair game. Except maybe Duchovny’s involvement with the Red Shoe Diaries films…..
